A quiet oasis on a busy Saturday

The tea room is a good, place to go if you want to avoid the noise and hustle and bustle of Tynemouth front street, especially on match day. It is a quiet oasis serving tea, sanwhiches and cake.

Nice Place

Always our go to place in Tynemouth for a light lunch. Limited choice, but reasonably priced. Can be busy though as there are only 7 tables. Easy to miss it from the street if you're walking past, so watch out for their sandwich board.

Too easy to miss

Visiting Tynemouth and looking for somewhere to have afternoon tea as we made our way to the sea .Nearly walked past ,so glad we didnt .Made very welcome ,sat outside in the small garden.Reasonably priced, varied selection.Quickly served and then never hurried. What ever we saw other people having all looked delicious.A delightful introduction to our visit and would go back any time .If you are walking past......go in ,you will be pleased you did .

Coffee and Scones

We meet with old friends every 2-3 months for morning coffee and scones at Number 61. It's where we held a mutual friend's wake after his funeral. He loved it here, and quite right too. Unlike some reviewers, we have always been made to feel welcome and the service has been good. The cheese scones are always a delight. The main tea room isn't the biggest, so it can get busy, but if you pick your time carefully, it'll be okay. Well worth checking out.

Always enjoy this place

It's quaint and friendly. Cakes and scones are good and the garden out the back is particularly good on a sunny day. We always end up popping in here on a trip to tynemouth. Nice.

Yummmyy caaaaake!!!!!

Goodness knows why this cute, friendly gem of a restaurant doesn't rate higher. Staff were friendly and helpful, quick service and cakes to die for. The coffee n walnut and Victoria sandwich were awesome, the carrot cake n choccy tiffin were yum. All served with tea cosy-covered big pot of tea in a leafy courtyard, perfect! And just a short stroll from the beautiful Tynemouth castle & beach in one direction and the metro in the other. Highly recommended. And I KNOW good cake.....
