Jewel in the crown of Tynemouth!

Stayed here for one night break with my husband! Stayed in the Dickens room which is at the rear of the premises, overlooks fabulous views of the Tyne Mouth, and South shields. The room was immaculate, everything one could need to ensure comfort was provided. There is plenty to do in the village, bars and eateries, gift shops etc. Breakfast was a joy, and we were greeted by both hosts who told us the history of this 1750 building, quite a story! The lovely little touches around the place made the stay a pleasure, and you can see how much the place is loved! Good luck to both of you in the future, you both deserve No 61, to be a great success!

The perfect getaway after a very stressful year!  We had a wonderful festive night away and the b&b was more like a small-scale hotel. The room was perfect, lovely balcony with a generous sea view. From the minute we walked through the front door, we were made to feel at home. There was even a festive smell to the air! Bedding was very comfortable and felt luxurious. Breakfast was very tasty, fruit offered as well as plenty of tea/coffee, toast etc. Nothing would have been too much to ask of these gentlemen. Right in the middle of the town, all the local bars right on the doorstep, with not one bit of noise heard when we retired for the night at 10:30pm. Parking is right outside. All in all a great evening spent in a gorgeous guest house, made that extra bit special because of the service we received. I have already planned our second visit!

61 is #1 in Tynemouth
Stayed here for a week as I was working close by.
As I was working early starts and late finishes Stephen made me very welcome by making me a packed lunch each day and had plenty of ice at hand for a relaxing G&T after work.
My room was at the top of the house. It was all very clean fresh and modern. It had a view of the sea and overlooked the main road.
Parking was easy enough right outside which is free after 6pm. There are some great pubs and restaurants to eat on the doorstep.
This guesthouse is the BEST place to stay in Tynemouth.

Perfect 21st Birthday
Upon our arrival we were greeted by an extremely helpful and friendly owner, to which he showed us to our room (Byron room) and they had decorated it with flowers and a balloon for my 21st - this added a lovely touch to a special day.
The room was beautiful with an amazing view of Tynemouth. Very spacious and clean with lovely little additions of coffee and tea....even a fan was available which was an amazing addition in 28 degrees!
Breakfast again was lovely, cooked to perfection and plenty of selection.
Definitely will be returning!
Many thanks again :)

Fabulous B&B
We arrived in Tynemouth on a rainy afternoon to start the Hadrian’s Wall walk the next day. The welcome we received was above and beyond. Our room, the Garibaldi room, was very comfortable and clean with everything you needed. Stephen, our host, was so welcoming as was Barbara - nothing was an issue including letting us do our laundry. The hearty breakfast was delicious as well as the packed lunch to feed us on our walk. I wish we had got to this B& B a few days earlier to enjoy all that Tynemouth has to offer. Highly recommend this B&B - would love to go back.

Family gathering following funeral x
I would like to say a massive thank you to both Stephen and Neil at 61 Guest House for putting on a wonderful spread this afternoon and being apart of celebrating Gavs life with plenty of tea/coffee, sandwiches, scones and cakes... which were all absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was just right, lovely and intimate just how my family wished. I know gav would have absolutely loved every moment of it, especially the cakes. I on behalf of my whole family and friends are very grateful for the personal and heartwarming service and again thank you both for contributing to how special today has been for us all. I will most definitely will be returning for a cheese scone and to stay in one of your beautiful guest rooms... not to mention the fact I will be setting a reminder to watch you both on 4 in a bed on the 8th October!! Lots of love “the smiths” x x x x
